6 Exciting Activities to Do at the Canadian National Exhibition!

The Canadian National Exhibition (CNE), also known as The Ex, is an annual fair that will take place from Aug 18th to Sept 4th, 2017. If you’re in the Greater Toronto Area while the fair is taking place, make sure you take this opportunity to have a blast and enjoy all the CNE has to offer.

Here are six CNE activities to take part in with your family and friends this year!

President’s Choice SuperDogs Show

The President’s Choice SuperDogs invite you to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday at the CNE with their all-Canadian production, CanaDogs! How can you resist watching adorable, furry dogs running around and doing tricks in colourful costumes? If you’re a dog lover, be sure to check out this show and see their dates and showtimes on the CNE website here.

Not a fan of dogs but still want to see some animals? The CNE also offers:

  • Cat Show – with over 120 cats to showcase
  • HorsePower Live! – a sensational and free horse show set to original music, and
  • The Farm – A huge display of kids games and farm yard animals including cows, pigs, goats, horses, and sheep

 More details here.

Carnival Food

Each year a new crazy food item makes its way to the CNE. Carnival food is known to be unique, greasy and sugary, but you should treat yourself to at least one crazy food item this year…will it be the churro cheeseburger, pulled pork cinnamon rolls, or deep fried cookie dough balls? There will also be a collection of good ol’ fashioned food trucks, a ribfest, a craft beer fest and the giant Food Building filled with thousands of food options to choose from!

All food details listed here.

The Bandshell

There is a new artist performing every night at the CNE’s Bandshell stage, so you are bound to find someone of interest to you. This year’s performers will include the Sam Roberts Band, Burt Cummings and Band, Tomi Swick and more! The best part is that access to these concerts is FREE with your admission to the fair. Just make sure that you get there early to guarantee yourself a spot.

Canadian International Air Show

Each year the Canadian International Air Show does a performance over Lake Ontario by the CNE, and every year, it amazes the thousands that stop to watch! This show never fails to impress us, and it’ll impress you too! These talented pilots will perform thrilling tricks in the sky from September 2-4 between the times of 12:00pm and 3:00pm.

Arcade Games and Amusement Rides

It goes without saying that the amusement rides and games are the main attraction at any fair. The CNE brings in some thrilling rides that will have your stomach in knots, as well as some of the classics like merry-go rounds and whack-a-mole. Challenge your friends and family to a game and watch your competitive sides come out!

Shopping

Shop through hundreds of vendors at the CNE this year, selling everything from kitchen supplies and arts & crafts, to makeup and handmade clothing. Here is a list of all of the shopping attractions located at the fair this year. Shop away!
