Mineola Mississauga

Mineola Mississauga

LOCATION: Mineola is a quaint neighbourhood located in the centre of four other areas – Lakeview, Lorne Park, Port Credit and Cooksville. This beautiful area is just minutes away from the shores of Lake Ontario. Mineola is known for its quiet and tranquil feel, similar to a cottage town within a bustling city.

POPULATION: Approx. 9,205

DESCRIPTION OF HOMES: If Mineola is known for anything, it’s their expensive real estate prices. There is a plethora of $1 million plus custom built homes, but also a mix of standard and older bungalows. However, don’t be shocked to see higher prices on even the simplest of bungalows – the general area of Mineola is more expensive than any other area in Mississauga.

That being said, if you’ve got the budget for this neighbourhood, it is a great investment and area to live in. 54% of these homes are 50+ years old, with 12% being older than 65 years. 28% of the homes are with the 25-50 year old range.

COMMUNITY: This community has a calm and old fashioned feel to it, with homes dating back before WWII, but it is definitely not run down or outdated. Its proximity to Port Credit’s shops, restaurants and waterfront make this area convenient, but it is tucked away enough that each lot still has its own privacy.

There is a mixture of older long term residents and mature professional couples with children. It has some of the best schools in the city (see next section for more information) and is often well kept with gorgeous forest areas behind lots.

SCHOOLS: The schools in Mineola are some of the best in the city, with Kenollie Public School ranking #1! Mineola Public School, St. Dominic and St. Timothy are also excellent schools. For parents looking for a different style of education for their children, there are private schools like Blyth Academy (Grades 6-12) and Mentor College (JK-12).

CONVENIENCE/TRANSIT: It takes about 15-minutes by car to reach Mississauga’s City Centre. If you are looking for a convenient method of transportation to Toronto, hop on a train at Port Credit GO station or take a drive on the QEW. Note: Mineola and Port Credit have many small shops to explore but you are looking for a big box store or a large grocery store, you will need to take a short drive farther into the city.
